Starlink requires a clear view of the sky, obstructions from trees or tall buildings degrade performance. It is weather-sensitive (though less so than older satellite services). It cannot currently provide a static IP address without a business plan add-on, which may affect VPN and remote access configurations. Speedster IT assesses site suitability before procurement.
Starlink provides more consistent performance than 4G/5G in locations with poor mobile coverage, and higher peak speeds. 4G/5G failover is cheaper (a good 5G router costs around GBP 200 to GBP 500, versus GBP 1,000 or more for Starlink Business) and faster to deploy.
